Wiki - NSWLearning2

This blog refers back to the title of previous blog had a little help from my pet cats who decided to put their comment in.Anyway the NSWLearning2 Wiki was very challenging. I didn't realise there would be so many different headings for librarians. When i finally realised which heading my job description went under i started to write my comment. After some frustration with the computer and yelling at my friend who was helping (mental note:have to buy friend special present) i got my comments on the page edit.
I looked up Wikipedia for information on my home town very informative could be useful to find a certain fact considering it came from the 2006 census.

Wiki findings - Discover

I found Wiki to be an interesting site to find different meanings about different subjects. The Booklovers Wiki was really good as it had interesting book reviews that was easy to understand. I found on the site some books that i never heard of but would like to read. The FAQ link on the site was quite good too.
I found the SJCPL Subject Guides Wiki good too as it gives you general information on books in their collection but it has alot of links.
The Wookieepedia site is a very interesting site for people who like Science Fiction or an avid Star Wars fan. It has alot of links but the only downfall it has too much information to read. I even found a few facts about Star Wars i didn't know.
Wiki would work in libraries as it would come in handy when people are trying to find information on a particular subject providing the information is up to date

My adventure with RSS

I picked for my bloglines account these feeds -
1. LibraryBytes
2. Powerhouse Museum - Photo of the day
3.The Shifted Librarian
4. Yahoo! News: Top Stories
5. Bloglines- News

The RSS concept is certainly different. It's a neverending list where you can choose which one to look at when you have the time, without the need to log onto individual sites. This site may be helpful in the library for certain groups of people (eg family history) to get latest updates instead of looking in every site. This site can be fun and can appeal to anyone and you don't have to be a computer wiz.

nsw public libraries learning 2.0 week 3 - using flickr.

I've finally figured out how to use flickr. There are so many different images to choose from i didn't know where to start. Anyway i found an image called 'Sailing to be free' by Heniusia. The link is www.flickr.com/photos/henia/1296923907.I'm dedicating this photo to a very special person who means everything to me. My special friend has made me feel alive again, care & supported me threw my difficult times, taught me to laugh & be happy again. My friend will always be apart of my life and will understand why i picked this photo. Anyway about flickr it offers people so many choices and i think it's a great asset to anyone who wants to share photos whether to loved ones or for other people around the world.
